Synthesis and cytotoxic activities of selenium nanoparticles incorporated nano-chitosan

Abstract New system compromising of chitosan nanoparticles encapsulated pre-synthesized selenium in the presence 5-fluorouracil was successfully prepared and used for cancer antiproliferation. Selenium were synthesized using ascorbic acid as reducing agent under mild condition. Chitosan via ionic gelation technique sodium tri-polyphosphate. Characterization carried out FTIR, TEM, XRD, TGA dynamic light scattering (DLS). The results displayed formation with an average size 20 nm 207 250 neat nano-chitosan incorporated 5-fluorouracil/selenium nanoparticles, respectively. nanocomposites tested treatment cell human colorectal carcinoma (HCT-116), liver (HepG-2), breast adenocarcinoma MCF-7. indicated potent cytotoxic activities all nanocomposite toward cells enhanced anticancer activity rather than single drug or nanoparticle. All composites against non-tumor fibroblast-derived line (BJ) demonstrated very low cytotoxicity.
